The National Bureau of Statistics announced its latest economic data today (19th), revealing that China's Q3 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.5% year-on-year, reaching 4.5 trillion yuan, exceeding the 4.3% in the previous quarter and the market's consensus forecast of 4.4%.

Beyond Expectations, Challenges Remain

Data indicate that China's GDP growth YoY was 4.6% in the first three quarters of the year, reflecting a degree of resilience. Quarterly breakdown shows Q1 GDP grew by 5.0%, indicating a solid start to the year; Q2 growth slowed to 4.3%; Q3 rebounded to 4.5%. On a seasonally adjusted basis, Q3 GDP expanded by 1.2%, suggesting a return of some economic momentum.

The National Bureau of Statistics highlighted that the national economy navigated pressures, shifted towards innovation and optimization, with many positive indicators observed in the first three quarters. For instance, industrial production remained steady, high-tech manufacturing saw accelerated growth, and certain months showed signs of recovery in the consumption sector. These positive factors laid a foundation for annual economic growth.

However, the bureau simultaneously emphasized that the international environment remains complex and volatile, with global economic recovery facing uncertainties and rising geopolitical risks posing challenges to China's economy. More importantly, the issue of insufficient domestic demand persists, with household consumption willingness yet to fully recover and investment structure requiring optimization.
