On Halloween night, a 23-year-old Hong Kong-based female student from mainland China narrowly avoided an accident after a night of excessive drinking. She and her friend were partying at a nightclub in Tsim Sha Tsui when the young woman became so drunk that she 'went blank'—an idiom indicating memory loss due to heavy alcohol consumption. Her friend, who was not well acquainted with her and knew little about her home address, attempted to bring her back to her accommodations in Kwai Tsing. However, upon arriving at Mong Kok station, her friend discovered that she had lost track of the drunken woman. The police were informed and searched multiple subway stations and her address in Tsim Sha Tsui but found no trace of the woman. It was not until the early hours of the following morning that police received a report from MacLehose Hospital. A passerby had brought a suspected missing woman, who was found in the observation ward, to the attention of the hospital. Following identification, it was confirmed that the woman was the 23-year-old, who admitted she had no recollection of the events that took place. She was subsequently taken to the hospital by ambulance, where tests revealed that she was in good health.
