Apple’s first foldable screen phone, iPhone Duo, officially launched on October 23 with a starting price of 15,999 RMB in China. To meet the tech feast, long lines formed in Apple Store locations in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen as fruit fans rushed to get their hands on the new device.

Lower Enthusiasm Than Straight-Screen Flagship

Despite the stores opening their doors as early as 8 a.m., the number of people and the atmosphere at the sites were generally lower than what was seen for the straight-screen flagship iPhone 18 Pro launch last month. Particularly in Guangzhou's Tiantian Department Store, the number of people in line had dropped by more than half.

Half-Day Price Dips for Yellow Pages

Although orders placed now have a delivery date set for mid-January 2027, the secondary market did not show the enduring frenzy seen after previous launches. In the early morning, the yellow pages (middlemen) began to recoup prices, but the prices quickly dropped. In Shenzhen, the 256GB version in Starmark White was the most popular, with yellow pages adding 2,000 RMB in purchases and 3,000 RMB in resales, but the 2TB version was ignored. By 3 p.m., the 512GB version at Guangzhou's Tiantian Department Store's price had dropped to just 1,000 RMB, leaving yellow pages exclaiming that prices had dropped 700 RMB in just a half hour.
