On the evening of October 21, about 500 kilograms of raw pork were left exposed and unattended in the “Su Run Shidaian Fresh Products Supermarket” in Jinport Central Square, Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, right next to several large garbage bins. The incident sparked widespread public attention after the video surfaced.

Following public reports, the local market supervision department investigated and found significant flaws in the supermarket's management. All pork inventory in the store was sealed and an official case was initiated. The supermarket stated that since the delivery driver arrived early and the manager was absent, the meat could not be promptly handled, allowing stray cats access to the area. The affected meat supplier later destroyed the batch of pork.

The incident stirred extensive discussions online, questioning the safety of food that might have already consumed such improperly handled meat. The market supervision authority announced that they will strengthen food safety oversight to ensure public safety.
