A skybridge to be constructed on Hung Hom waterfront will serve as a viewing platform and a venue for public activities, according to the Development Bureau. This was revealed as the proposal for development sites around Hung Hom MTR station and harbourfront areas was revised following public consultation. Besides offering views of Victoria Harbour, the space is also planned to host events. The total gross floor area for the entire project is expected to be over 200,000 square meters, with more than 60 percent allocated for residential use and over 30 percent for commercial purposes, marking a three percent increase from previous plans. The bureau has adjusted the distribution of floor space to increase residential areas due to reduced demand for commercial spaces.

The Design Secretary mentioned that the open space created by the skybridge will be available to the public, but the commercial or free access option remains undecided until the next phase. Additionally, the space could potentially be utilized for community activities or events, enhancing the public utility of the new development. The area around Hung Hom MTR station and the waterfront is set to undergo significant redevelopment, reflecting broader trends in urban revitalization and public space expansion in Hong Kong.

The plan for the Hung Hom skybridge and broader development area underscores the ongoing efforts to improve public spaces and community engagement in Hong Kong’s urban settings. With more than 30 percent of the development planned for commercial use and the rest for residential purposes, the project aims to strike a balance between commercial development and public amenity, addressing issues of urban living and community interaction. The flexible approach to the skybridge's use highlights the dynamic nature of urban planning in response to public feedback and changing real estate demands.
