The northeastern tiger reserve in Jilin, China, has captured a rare scene of six wild Siberian tigers together, marking the first time such an event has been documented nationwide. This footage, taken by infrared cameras in the spring of last year, shows a female Siberian tiger leading five cubs through the forest, a discovery celebrated as China’s first-ever recording of "six tigers together." The park's director toldstate media that the mother Siberian tiger has already birthed four litters and 13 cubs, making her one of the most prolific females in the reserve. In 2017, the northeastern tiger and leopard national park in Jilin had 27 Siberian tigers, but by now the number has grown to 72, accompanied by an upsurge in the number of leopards, with 115 individuals now roaming the park. The habitats within the park are now fully supporting the growing Siberian tiger population, illustrating the resilience and the recovery of the ecosystem. The park's expansion and protection efforts have created a thriving environment where tigers regularly cover more than 80% of the reserve area, mirroring the historical coexistence of tigers with the landscape.

The dramatic increase in the Siberian tiger population within the park has been attributed to stringent conservation measures and the gradual restoration of their natural habitat. Biologists note that the high number of cubs born and raised successfully is a clear sign of improving ecological conditions and an indication of the wildlife's healthy reproduction rate. This success story is expected to continue as long as the conservation efforts remain robust and effective.
