Hong Kong plays a significant role in Apec and its Business Advisory Council. Representatives noted that the city’s financing system aligns with international standards and can assist in the development of digital infrastructure financing in the region.

Duncan Chiu, the alternate representative, stated that network communications and computing capabilities are part of digital infrastructure. Hong Kong offers professional services such as financing and insurance not only for local enterprises and projects but also for Asian countries. He highlighted that during the meeting, there was discussion on how developed economies can help less developed ones.

Chiu pointed out that about 11 percent of people in Asia and one-third of the global population do not have internet access, and some places do not have data centers, which would worsen the gap between economies. As a one-stop service city, Hong Kong can help reduce trade costs for Apec economies while enhancing transparency and efficiency.
