On Halloween night, a violent fight unfolded amidst the festive atmosphere at the "Hong Kong Food and Wine Festival" in Central Harbor. Videos circulating online captured the chaotic scene where three men were involved in a physical altercation near a stall. Notably, one man dressed in a monk's robe, identified as a disguised individual, was the target of punches from two other men. The area quickly became disordered, with tables and chairs overturned as the conflict intensified. The monk-like man sustained injuries and fell to the ground. Police received a report at 11:49 PM of disturbance at the festival and arrived later to find the attackers had fled the scene. After investigation, they concluded that the assault might have arisen from a dispute over shopping. The 24-year-old Mr. Lam, who was attacked, suffered facial injuries and was taken to Mary Hospital by ambulance for treatment. The incident is being treated as an assault causing actual bodily harm and the police are actively pursuing the suspects.
The disturbance highlighted tensions amidst the generally peaceful celebration, reflecting potential underlying issues such as disputes at stalls during the festival. This event drew attention to the need for better crowd management and conflict resolution strategies to ensure the safety and enjoyment of attendees.
