Halloween celebrations on a Friday evening this weekend, combined with local large-scale events, led to heavy traffic in Central and Kai Tak areas from early Friday evening until late night. Central and Kai Tak main roads saw congestion from end-of-work hours until around 9 PM, then gradually returned to normal. The Central Lan Kwai Fong area particularly experienced large crowds, prompting the police to temporarily close Exit D1 at the MTR Central Station to control the flow of people.
Other parts of Hong Kong also witnessed busy scenes. For instance, all parking lots at the West Kowloon Cultural District were full, requiring visitors to use public transportation. Police officials, including the assistant director of the Police Force and commander of the Hong Kong Island Area, Li Yongliang, distributed Halloween sweets and crime prevention pamphlets to the public and visitors at Lan Kwai Fong today. They emphasized the importance of personal safety, traffic rules, and drug resistance during the festive activities.
For Halloween, the police announced that special traffic arrangements would be in place from October 30 to November 1. Authorities would adjust traffic management based on real-time conditions. Visitors and residents are urged to be patient and follow police instructions.
