Hong Kong's Development Bureau has assured residents that a new waterfront plan in Hung Hom will not obstruct the iconic view of Lion Rock. The permanent secretary for the bureau, Doris Ho, emphasized during an RTHK programme that the plan includes two connected buildings with an elevated viewing platform that will overlook Victoria Harbour. Ho stated that the architecture is designed to avoid blocking the Lion Rock view due to its different angles. The revised plan also includes a yacht club occupying approximately five percent of the floor space, addressing potential concerns about financial viability and market demand. The proposal includes two distinct zones, one along the waterfront and another closer to inland areas. Ho confirmed that the government still intends to release the construction land by 2029, though they are considering whether to do so in one phase or two. Residential space has been increased while commercial space has been reduced based on market feedback.
Authorities have clarified that the new development in Hung Hom will feature an open viewing platform that will not obstruct the iconic Lion Rock view. The plan involves two linked buildings with an elevated vantage point over Victoria Harbour, carefully designed to ensure the public enjoyment of the landmark. This revised project also includes provisions for yacht club facilities, meeting both financial and market demands. The plan, divided into two zones, seeks to balance waterfront and inland development, with the goal of continuing the scheduled timeline for land delivery by 2029.
