Shi Mei, Xiaomi's first employee housing project, has opened for sale in Wuhan, Hubei province. The project, named 'Guanggu Mientangjia,' consists of 297 units designed to fourth-generation standards, with an average price of 1,380 yuan per square meter, restricted solely for Xiaomi employees. The residential units range from 1,100 square feet (110 square meters) for three-bedroom apartments, 1,220 to 1,250 square feet (2,000 to 2,400 square meters) for medium-sized units, and 1,500 square feet (143 square meters) for large units complete with a 16-square-meter rooftop garden. The units are equipped with amenities such as a gym, yoga room, healing space, billiard room, and social lounges, reflecting a more communal and innovative model for housing. Located near Baozi Stream Park and Wuhan Children's Hospital, Guanggu Mientangjia is close to the Xiaomi Wuhan Technology Park, and will feature shops. The project incorporates Xiaomi's smart ecosystem, including an automated elevator system that recognizes Xiaomi employee faces, allowing them to go directly to their floor after passing through the building's entrance. The project's备案 average price is 13,885 yuan per square meter, or 1,380 yuan per square foot. Xiaomi settled in Wuhan Guangan New District in 2017, with approximately 8,000 employees, including more than 60% researchers.

Xiaomi, the tech giant specializing in digital products and electric vehicles, has ventured into real estate, marking a significant diversification into the residential market. The first project, 'Guanggu Mientangjia,' in Wuhan, Hubei, illustrates Xiaomi's commitment to innovative living standards while catering specifically to its employees. This move reflects not only the corporate culture but also an adventurous yet strategic expansion beyond traditional product offerings. By integrating its smart ecosystem into these units, Xiaomi aims to create a seamless living experience that aligns with the company's technological prowess, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for its workforce.
