Customs authorities in Shenzhen's Futian Port have once again uncovered a case of concealed smuggling involving a traveler. A female passenger dressed in green clothing arouse customs officers' suspicion due to her unusual behavior. Upon inspection, officers found that she had worn a specially-made waist belt around her abdomen, which contained three sealed plastic bags filled with a total of 83 Nintendo Switch game cards. The case has been transferred to the subsequent handling department of customs for further investigation. According to customs authorities, on that day, the female passenger entered mainland China through the inbound inspection channel of Futian Port wearing a green top. She did not declare any items upon passing through the customs surveillance area. Customs officers noticed her unusual demeanor and gait, and thus intercepted and led her to the inspection area for a more thorough search. During the search, it was revealed that the woman had a bulge at the waist and abdomen area, which was a specially-made waist belt containing three transparent plastic bags. Inside the bags, 83 Nintendo Switch game cards were found. Customs authorities immediately seized the suspected items and handed over the case to the subsequent handling department for further investigation.
The incident follows a trend of smuggling cases involving travelers using unconventional methods to conceal prohibited items. Similar customs enforcement incidents have been increasing in frequency, as travelers attempt various strategies to evade inspection. Such behavior not only exposes individuals to legal risks but also poses challenges to customs officers in maintaining the border security and integrity of regulatory measures. The repeated occurrence underscores the need for further reinforcement of customs inspection procedures and technology to combat such smuggling activities.
