Recently, consumers reported finding a live mouse on the conveyor belt of the Sushi郎 store in Wuhan's Chuanhe Han Street. Sushi郎 China responded to domestic media news by stating that the involved store has immediately ceased operations for rectification, orderly guiding customers present at the time to leave, and discarding and thoroughly cleaning relevant food ingredients and utensils. The company plans to continue enhancing daily food safety management at outlets to ensure consumer dining safety. On October 24, multiple consumers complained on social media that a large live mouse appeared on the conveyor belt of the Sushi郎 store during their lunchtime on that day. A netizen posted that because the mouse moved too fast, no photos were captured of the incident. "The large mouse was boldly running around on the conveyor belt, leaving all the customers in a daze, collectively shocked and distraught," a Ms. Chen, who was present, noted. After the incident, Chen approached the store manager, who offered her a free meal and a frozen mango as compensation. The store announced its temporary closure at around 5:30 PM that day.
The incident has raised concerns about hygiene standards and food safety practices at Sushi郎 stores. Local authorities are investigating the matter, and the company has pledged to address the issue promptly and improve its food safety protocols. This is the second time a similar incident has occurred at a Sushi郎 store in China this year, causing public scrutiny and prompting debates about the effectiveness of food safety measures in the industry. Some experts suggest that regular third-party inspections and customer feedback mechanisms could help prevent such incidents in the future.
