A driver in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China, after colliding with a pavement, roadside trees, and power poles, had their Xpeng X9 written off. The airbags failed to deploy, customer service attributed this to insufficient impact force.
Ru Mr., who purchased the Xpeng X9 two years ago for approximately 500,000 RMB, had an accident on 15th of the month, where the car collided with the pavement, roadside trees, and power poles. The vehicle became upside down as a result. The driver expressed dissatisfaction with the failure of the airbags to deploy despite the severe damage to the car.
Following the accident, the insurance company proposed to scrap the vehicle. Ru raised doubts about the vehicle's safety, questioning why there were no airbags deployed in such a serious accident. According to Ru, the vehicle was traveling at 87 kilometers per hour at the time of the collision, so was it necessary to find a specific point to collide? Xpeng customer service stated that based on the analysis of backend data and the driving video, the accident occurred while the vehicle was in manual driving mode, and the driver continuously pressed the accelerator pedal and turned the steering wheel sharply before the collision. The accident did not meet the conditions for triggering the car's airbag sensors, and they stated they would respect and cooperate with the customer's request for a third-party inspection. However, Ru does not accept this explanation and plans to take legal action.
