On Monday, the Daejeon District Court began the initial hearing of a case involving the dismemberment of a Chinese female student. Zheng Changsheng, a 31-year-old Chinese lecturer, is charged with several crimes, including murder, desecration of a corpse, disposal of a corpse, concealment of a corpse, and obstruction of public duty. Prosecutors suggest that Zheng was warned by the school for his close proximity to multiple female students. The case details show that he was concerned about losing his job if his relationship with female students was exposed, leading to the crime. According to reports, Zheng Changsheng began a romantic relationship with another female student in March, while he was already in a relationship with Chen Wen, a 25-year-old master's student. He concealed the existence of the other woman from her. On the morning of August 20, Zheng and Chen Wen had a confrontation, after which Zheng strangled her to death. Zheng Changsheng then dressed up as Chen and took a taxi to Daeugeo Station, intentionally allowing surveillance cameras to capture his image and creating a fake scenario of Chen Wen's disappearance. He discarded parts of the victim's body in garbage dumps, along the mountains, and on the side of the road, and hid some remains in his balcony and kitchen cabinet.
