Travel scams continue in mainland China. Mr. Li (a pseudonym) booked a 4-day3-night tour in Suzhou with a fee of only 980 yuan through Zhongjing Zhongxin International Tourism.
Guests were expecting a quick and comfortable experience, but instead encountered forced shopping fraud. Upon arrival in Hangzhou, half a day was practically wasted at jade and silk shops.
Mr. Li revealed that after the tour guide led the group into the shops, some stores even closed their doors and refused visitors from leaving. Unwilling customers who had not made purchases were singled out and forced to revisit the shops. Due to the severely disrupted normal schedule, Mrs. Li and their child were forced to separate from the group and arrange for accommodation and return.
