On October 22 at 10:33 PM, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Baxing County, Nqiang, Tibet, with a depth of 10 km. Eyewitnesses recall the intensity was like hundreds of yaks running wildly, with the entire building shaking violently, and three shakes occurred within a few seconds.

Eyewitness Accounts

Zun Zhisiceng from Geru Tang Village in Majie Town recalls that when the earthquake hit, his family was already asleep. He was awakened by the loud creaking of furniture and wooden pillars, realizing it was an earthquake. He then woke up his 80-year-old father, and they both went outside.

‘At first, the computer was shaking by itself, and I didn’t react until I felt the entire building shaking. Within just a few seconds, it shook three times,' said Wang, a Zhejiang person working in Nqiang for over a decade.

Post-Earthquake Relief Efforts

Rescue materials from the central, autonomous region, city, and county levels have been transported to the disaster area. By 4:30 AM on October 23, supplies including 1000 sets of combination shelters, 3239 tents, and 2821 folding beds have been delivered.
