A 2-year-old boy named Langlang fell from the 18th floor of his home in Chongqing while his father, Cui, was letting out the dog for 12 minutes. Cui's wife, Liu, has accused him of negligence and reported him to the police for criminal responsibility.
Accident Details
The incident occurred on September 13. On that day, 26-month-old Langlang was left alone with his father at a residential building in Yubei, Chongqing. He was watching cartoons on the sofa while his father went down to let out the dog.
About 12 minutes later, Cui returned home to find Langlang missing. He eventually found the child had fallen out of the window. Langlang was found unconscious, with blood in his mouth and severe injuries to his back. He was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
Charges and Subsequent Events
Liu, the mother, and Cui had met through an introduction and were married in 2023. However, their relationship was generally not good, and they had in-laws problems. After the accident, Cui only offered a monthly compensation of 10,000 RMB and requested a divorce to be avoided.
Liu believes that the child did not die of illness but due to negligence. She has accused Cui of negligence and submitted a criminal charge to the police on October 16, requesting criminal responsibility for his alleged act of negligent homicide. She has received a case acceptance receipt for the review.
