Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the United States hailed 'very productive' talks in Oslo amid efforts to draw a line under a bitter feud between Kyiv's leader and US President Donald Trump over the war with Russia. During the talks, US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner informed Zelensky of impending Russian strikes on civilian targets and energy plants. Witkoff is now due to travel to Russia for talks with President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday in an effort to end the four-year-old war in Ukraine.
Zelensky said the talks were "very productive" and thanked Washington for resuming intelligence on impending Russian strikes on civilian targets and energy facilities.
Zelensky told reporters in Oslo that intelligence is important for the safety of his people, including children and adults, as they can be alerted when a ballistic missile is incoming.
Former US envoy Steve Witkoff, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store emphasized the importance of continuing the conversation.
