In the rotation of Beijing's municipal party leadership and deputy mayors, 70s-era official Xia Linao fell from grace due to severe violations of discipline and law. His long-term roles in urban planning across various key positions display his influence within the party.
Extensive Career in Urban Planning
Since 1993, Xia Linao has been involved in urban planning and development in Beijing. He held key positions for over a decade, including serving as the deputy director of the Beijing Urban Planning Commission and being the party secretary of Shijingshan District, Miyun District, and Dongcheng District.
Rapid Ascension to High Positions
In 2021, Xia was appointed as the secretary of the Municipal Education Work Committee and rose to the deputy ministerial level. He was subsequently named as the deputy mayor of Beijing and has concurrently served as the secretary and director of the Communist Party of the Xicheng New Town. His recent promotions reflect his rapid rise within the party.
